About History Is Central

A collaborative project based in Central Connecticut State University's History Department, History Is Central is funded by a three-year grant from the federal Department of Education's "Teaching American History" program. It will run through the spring of 2009.

History Is Central aims to increase student learning in U.S. history by connecting participating teachers to the best in history scholarship, to local historical resources, and to an ongoing network of colleagues.

Programs include workshops and scholarly presentations, book circle disucussions, and visits to historic sites and museums, as well as ongoing consultation with project staff. These programs are open to middle- and high school teachers in the participating districts.
